Former Wilko unit for sale in Chippenham town centre

The former Wilko building on Chippenham High Street was bought by property developers The Harkalm Group following the closure of the store in September.

The new owners have split the large property into three units and recently confirmed that Tesco would be filling one of these spaces.

This came after the supermarket giant announced it would be closing its superstore in the Emery Gate shopping centre and opening a Tesco Express on the High Street.

Now unit three at the site, totalling over 6,500sq feet, has been listed as available to purchase or rent.

A price of £625,000 has been set for a permanent sale while rent is advertised at £60,000 per year.

This part of the property backs onto the future Tesco Express and also covers the 19-space car park and goods access to the rear of the site.

Estate agent Savills said the property had the “potential for redevelopment and alternative uses”, subject to planning permission being granted.

Plans have been submitted to Wiltshire Council for the installation of a new shopfront for unit two, which is situated at the corner of the High Street, partially facing the River Avon.
