Raising money for Dean

A WEST Wiltshire pub landlord was one of three people to have their heads shaved to raise money for a hospital which has helped a five-year-old boy with a rare muscle disorder.

Daniel Keene 28, who owns The Organ Inn, in High Street, Warminster, agreed to hold the fundraiser after pub regulars Chris and Jay Brooks had the idea to raise money for the Great Ormond Street Hospital, which has cared for their grandson Dean.

Dean has Nemoline Myopathy, a neuromuscular disorder which causes muscle weakness.

Mr and Mrs Brooks and Mr Keene took part in the head shave on Saturday night, with the men having their beards shaved off as well. Mrs Brooks opted for a crew cut.

The trio have raised more than £1,700, with £250 raised through a bucket collection on the night.

Mr Keene said: "Chris showed us a photo of Dean and they said the wanted to raise some money for the Great Ormond Street Hospital.

"We help out a lot of charities anyway.

"On the night the pub was extremely busy - everyone was cheering us on."' Mr Keene and his partner Carly have celebrated their second anniversary at the pub. To date they have raised more than £5,0000 for various charities.
