Police are continuing a probe into an alleged “hit and run” in Wiltshire which left a cyclist hospitalised.

Shortly after 8pm on February 1 a man in his 50s was cycling along Pickwick Road in Corsham when a white van driver reportedly failed to give way, leading to a collision.

The cyclist had been travelling from the Melksham direction and was turning right at the roundabout into Newlands Road when the crash occurred.

At the time police confirmed he was taken to the Royal United Hospital for treatment after suffering injuries to his hand, hip, and leg.

The van driver initially stopped but then left the scene without providing any details.

Following a police CCTV appeal, officers have identified a man in connection to the incident.

He has been interviewed under caution.

Investigations into the crash remain ongoing and police have urged anyone with further information to come forward.

A spokesperson for the force said: “Officers investigating a collision in which a driver failed to stop at the scene have identified a driver.
