THE former Barclays Bank branch in Trowbridge has been listed for sale by auction with a guide price of just £250,000.

The branch closed on Friday, September 2, 2022, as part of a national cull of 75 branches by the UK ‘big four’ high street bank.

Its closure followed Barclays Bank closures in Devizes, Marlborough, Warminster and Westbury.

The branch at 3 Fore Street is listed for sale as Lot 126 in the auction by commercial property agents Savills on Tuesday, March 19.

They describe the premises as a “prominent former bank building of 2,351 sq ft (218.44 sq m)” and as being of interest to investors and developers.

The listing says: “The property comprises a vacant former bank situated in the heart of Trowbridge.

“Arranged across ground, first and second floors, the property provides approx. 2,351 sq ft (218.44 sq m) of accommodation.

“The property was formerly let to Barclays and is therefore fitted with a sales area/bank hall to the ground floor with offices and ancillary accommodation to the upper parts. There is a garden area to the rear.”

Savills say it has potential for development or conversion, subject to obtaining the necessary planning consents.
