A man has been arrested after a woman in her 20s was killed in a crash on an A-road near Wiltshire.
At around 11pm on Monday, April 8, a silver Mercedes C220 AMG was involved in a crash with a silver Volkswagen Golf on the A361 in Frome.
A woman in her 20s, the driver and sole occupant of the Golf, was critically injured and died at the scene.
Her next of kin have been informed and will be supported by a specialist family liaison officer.
The sole occupant of the Mercedes, a man in his 50s, underwent a medical assessment at the scene.
He was subsequently arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, drink driving and drug driving.
At the time of writing, he remained in custody.
The incident took place at the busy road’s junction with the A362, and the route remained closed overnight during an examination by collision investigators.
The A361 reopened on Tuesday morning.
Officers have urged anybody who witnesses the crash to come forward.
An Avon and Somerset Police spokesperson said: “We’d like to hear from anyone with any dashcam, CCTV or other footage, or any information about the circumstances leading to the collision.
“If you can help, please call 101 and give the reference number 5224089811, or complete our online appeals form.”
