A Wiltshire A-road is scheduled to shut for urgent repairs, sending drivers on a 53km diversion route.

The A360 will close between West Lavington and Tilshead on May 1 at 7pm so that Wiltshire Council can carry out urgent carriageway repairs and other associated works, according to the council’s roadworks map.

The route is due to remain shut at all times until 6am on May 3.

Church Street and Tilshead Road are expected to be affected from the Duck Street junction to the junction with Tilshead High Street.

The council has released a 53km-long diversion route that will take motorists around an hour to navigate during the closure, depending on traffic.

There will be no through route possible for emergency service vehicles on the A360 during the planned closure, the council has warned.
