CUSTOMERS at the Marks and Spencer Simply Food store in Trowbridge have reacted with dismay after hearing the store is to close

The store, which opened in The Shires shopping centre in June 2006, is one of 25 nationwide earmarked for closure with the loss of 29 jobs.

The Wiltshire Times and Chippenham News asked customers for their views this morning: Barbara Foster, from Westbury, said: “I think it’s disgusting. What’s happening in Trowbridge? It’s terrible and sad, very sad.”

Diana Aslett, from Trowbridge, said: “It’s very disappointing, it hasn’t been here long and it always seems very busy. It’s a kick in the teeth for Trowbridge and people losing jobs is very sad.”

Lynda Monger, from near Warminster, said: “It’s a real shame it’s closing. I always thought it was expensive but it’s actually very reasonable. It’s terrible, no jobs seem to be safe at the moment.”
