Devizes Town 2, Street 2

ONLY a late miss from substitute Keiran Baggs prevented Devizes Town completing a shock comeback against an in-form Street side.

Baggs nearly gave Devizes a 3-2 win in Saturday’s Toolstation League Premier Division League clash, but Street stopper Ben Webb smothered his shot with 15 minutes left.

The Nursteed Road outfit had earlier seemed to be heading for defeat in front of their home crowd, as a tap-in from Ben Amghar seven minutes before half-time and a volley just short of the hour from James Bisgrove put them 2-0 down.

But the half-time introduction of Keiran Baggs and Dave Percival 10 minutes later made a difference to the home side, and Baggs’ deflected free kick led to the corner from which Kev Bush stabbed home after 67 minutes.

Eight minutes later Dave Percival was involved in the build-up which led to Shaun Percival heading in at the back post to level the scores.

Baggs was denied by Webb when one-on-one before Tom Clifford-Jones could have won it for Street, but he shot into the side netting after rounding goalkeeper Grant Porter.

Devizes joint manager Shaun Moffat said: “Not having many games over the last four or five weeks, we were slow starters.

“Second half we changed it around and they hit us with a sucker goal.

“Last 35 minutes we knuckled down and took the game to them, I felt we were by far the better side.

“We fully deserved to get both goals back and I felt we could have nicked it at the end.”
