Pupils at a village school near Bradford on Avon got the chance to play a didgeredoo as part of an international day held on Friday.

The 85 pupils at Westwood-with-Iford Primary School made their own passports, were given ‘flight’ tickets to move from classroom to classroom, and wore rucksacks to symbolise travelling.

India, Australia, Denmark, Spain and Hong Kong were among the countries the children learned about during the activity day, which included flag games, shark fishing and fly swatting.

Parent Jane Mondal, whose son Noah, five, is a pupil at the school and who has previously lived in India, dressed up in a sari for the day and taught children about the country and its traditions.

She said: “The children sat on a magic carpet that took them to India.

“We then tasted some Indian food, looked at different religions and statues of gods, along with looking at some Indian clothes.

“The children loved it, I really felt that they were interested and learnt a lot.”
