Westbury could have an annual spring market after the success of last year’s French themed event.

Last year, Westbury Town Council organised a French market to coincide with the annual French twinning celebrations and the town welcomed its French counterparts from Chateau du Loir to join in with the event.

This year the town council is proposing the spring market becomes an annual event and it could be French-themed again this year.

Westbury town mayor, Cllr Sue Ezra, said: “Last year was a real success with bread, wine, meats and crepes, which are very nice but fattening.

“We’re proposing the spring market becomes an annual event, with different national markets coming each year.

“It’s something that brings the community together and brings the town’s people of Westbury together.”

This year’s market will take place in the Market Place on May 1.
