CHIPPENHAM shrugged off their five-week break with a dominant second-half performance.

A late injury during the week gave Tom Bowrey his first team debut and he slotted in well playing at right-back, giving a composed display.

The hosts settled well early on and Scott Trainor scored the opener after excellent work from Andy Edwards, Colin Fisher and Luke Morris. A second quickly followed as Chippenham hit the visitors on the break.

A swift counter-attack after a solid tackle from Darren Bean who released Nigel Stonham. He picked out Morris who beat the remaining defenders and put the ball over the oncoming Bath goalkeeper.

As the half progressed, Chippenham dropped the intensity of the game and gave away a needless short corner. Goalkeeper Howard Simons saved the initial shot but the resulting follow-strike resulted in a penalty flick which was clinically despatched. Frank words were exchanged during the break with a call from increased effort and higher levels of concentration.

The players responded and scored within five minutes of the game restarting, Morris grabbing his second after he got on the end of a Stonham short corner pass.

Chippenham created further chances with Harry Elias, Trainor and Ben Copeland all going close.

But as in the first half, they were guilty of conceding the initiative and gave away possession too cheaply on the edge of their D.

A first-time shot was well saved by Simons at full stretch but slack marking saw the rebound find the back of the net.

Chippenham realised that the next goal would be important from whichever team and so stepped up a gear.

Trainor won a short corner which was well struck by Elias giving the goalkeeper no chance. This goal relieved the pressure and Chippenham dominated the closing 15 minutes with Trainor claiming his second.

They face Swansea Bay away on Saturday
