PRINCESS Anne is to visit Chippenham to open a new carers centre next month.

The Princess Royal will be at the new North Wiltshire Carers Centre in New Road for the official opening on April 13.

Manager Jeni Thomas said: "We are very excited to be welcoming the Princess Royal to our new carers centre.

"The new centre provides a great opportunity to further develop services for carers throughout north Wiltshire."

The centre is one of a network of 122 centres provided through the Princess Royal Trust for Carers, of which Princess Anne is president.

While at the centre the princess will be introduced to staff who work with carers of people with physical and mental disabilities.

She will also meet carers and learn about the range of services provided through the centre to the estimated 11,360 adult carers in north Wiltshire.
