Thousands of pounds are expected to have been raised at an open garden on Sunday in aid of the Wiltshire Times’ Help for Heroes appeal.

More than 1,500 people visited Stephen and Amanda Clark’s garden in Seend High Street. The couple’s plot includes a romantic English garden and Italian, Chinese and African sections.

Money was raised through admission price and sales of plants. Mr Clark said: “The day raised more than £8,000. We didn’t expect nearly as many people who attended. Help for Heroes was the main draw.”

The day raised money for Help for Heroes as well as SASRA, a Christian outreach charity for the Army.
