MAJOR roadworks are set to cause weeks of disruption in Melksham.
Sandridge Hill will be closed for 10 weeks from Monday while the road is widened and resurfaced. It will effectively mean people living in Sandridge will be cut off from Melksham, but residents in Sandridge Lane are hoping they will be given access only rights.
Duncan Priddle, from highways maintenance contractor Mouchel Parkman, said: "It is inevitable that these essential works will cause some disruption. I would like to apologise for any inconvenience these works will cause."
A new storm water drainage system is being installed and new road markings and traffic signs will also be added. Through traffic will be diverted north along the A342 to join the A4 at Derry Hill, west towards Chippenham to the A350 Rowden roundabout and south on the A350 to Melksham.
