GLAM rock, flower power and punk fashions were all on show at a school on Friday, despite the wearers being born 30 years too late for the 70s.

Youngsters at Paxcroft Primary School in Trowbridge donned the fashions of the era to celebrate the 30th birthday of their school.

Deputy headteacher Jess Lewis said: "It was fantastic. The children really enjoyed dressing up and we had a lot of bright, colourful costumes."

Pupils spent the whole day in a 70s timewarp, starting off with a 1970s news assembly.

In class they had integrated teaching, with lessons including maths, literacy, English, history and a whole range of other mixed activities.

Anyone who has been involved with the school over the past three decades was invited to come along and see how it had changed, with Year 6 students on hand to conduct guided tours.

Classic 1970s children's shows were screened for some classes, including old favourites such as Rainbow, Mr Benn and Chorlton and the Wheelies.
