WHEN 11-year-old Adam Langley went to Castle Combe racing circuit on Saturday he was hoping to catch a glimpse of his motor sporting hero Tiff Needell and maybe even sneak an autograph.

To his surprise he ended up racing down the track in one car with Needell chasing him in another before having a chat with his idol in the pit lane.

The former racing driver, who presents Channel 5's Fifth Gear, was the special guest at the Ford RS day which saw 150 classic Fords parading round the track. Mr Langley, from Bradford on Avon, said: "Adam's always been a big fan of Fifth Gear and Top Gear and he buys all the DVDs and magazines. He's adored Tiff Needell since he was a little boy."

To Adam's surprise, he was invited to ride in the pace car and Tiff followed closely behind in a bronze Ford Focus RS. "Adam's Cheshire cat smile was peering though the pace car's rear window. It was a true little boy's dream come true," added Mr Langley.

After the parade Adam was able to have another chat with his hero in the pit lane. Mr Langley said: "He absolutely loved it and talked about nothing else all weekend."
