WHEN fundraiser Julie Davies visited Christ Church Primary School, Bradford on Avon to talk about her work providing loos in India she was amazed by the children's response.

Pupils were so enthusiastic about raising money for the Elizabeth-Ann charity, which Mrs Davies started in memory of her daughter, she revisited the school last week for the children to discuss their fundraising ideas.

It was 10-year-old Jodie Hancock who instigated the visit after contacting Mrs Davies to tell her she and her friends wanted to do something to help. Mrs Davies said: "It is so touching, I just couldn't believe it. They just kept putting their hands up wanting to help. One handed me 50p as I left.

"Another has already told me she wants to give half her pocket money to the charity."

Some of the ideas the children have suggested include sponsored bike rides, runs and silences as well as half hour cartwheel competitions, music days and sponsored skips.

Mrs Davies said: "Some of them might just be ideas but some might be fruitful ones. If they work in groups they can do amazing things."

The Elizabeth-Ann Charity has already provided 100 toilets for poor families in the east Indian village of Burlavaripalem and Mrs Davies hopes to build 200 more as well as providing water buffalos for villagers.
