VILLAGERS dressed in Edwardian costume stepped back in time on Sunday to celebrate the centenary of Avoncliff Halt.
The group of 50 residents gathered at the station before getting on the train to Bradford on Avon. Avoncliff resident Ken Miller, said: "On the train there was much banter between us and the ordinary travellers, telling the women off for not wearing hats and the men for not wearing ties on a Sunday.
"The regional manager of First Great Western, Andrew Griffiths, turned up and he was very helpful ensuring we didn't have to pay for the journey. "In Bradford we were met by the mayor, two ex-mayors and town councillors."
After a quick drink at the Three Horseshoes it was back on the train for lunch at Avoncliff and a performance by the Bratton Silver Band. On Saturday an open garden event was also held as part of the celebration and residents welcomed 200 visitors.
A model train exhibition, hosted by Bassett-Lowke, was also popular on Sunday.
