A LIBRARIAN from Chippenham has won a competition to find and celebrate 10 young 21st century librarians in England.
Lucy Kitchener, the area children's librarian for North Wiltshire and Kennet and who is based in Chippenham library, was one of the winners.
The idea behind the competition, launched by the Love Libraries campaign, is to dispel the ingrained perceptions of librarians.
Miss Kitchener said: "I absolutely love working in libraries. It's the people who make it such a good job. I'm never doing the same thing day-in, day-out. It's totally creative.
"There's always someone interesting to talk to and share things with. In what other job do you get to advocate the thing you're most passionate about? It's my dream job and I get to smile all day long."
The panel of six judges were looking for entries that demonstrated innovation, originality, passion and creativity.
Entrants were asked to write 250 words on why they should be chosen as a top 10 21st century librarian and each of the winners received a special certificate and their entry posted on www.lovelibraries.co.uk
