A ladies choir based in Trowbridge is hosting a concert at Edington Priory in November to raise money for Help For Heroes.

Philomel Ladies Choir, which has 23 members from west Wiltshire, is holding the concert in a bid to raise money for the forces charity after seeing it featured in the Wiltshire Times newspaper.

Choir secretary Fiona Wood said: “We decided to raise money for Help For Heroes as we know it is a charity that is very topical and people are aware of.

“Also the Wiltshire Times is using it for their charity for the year. The concert is free but there will be a retiring collection and we hope to raise £500 from the event.”

The choir which has been running for 21 years has the sole purpose of holding concerts to raise money for charity, collecting more than £25,000 since it began.

The concert will be held on November 13 at 7.30pm, which ties in with Remembrance weekend and will see performances from the choir as a whole as well as soloist performances from St Laurence School pupil Rosie Morgan, 15, and Hannah, 12, and Joel Munday, 11, of Exeter.
