VIDEO game shop Game in Trowbridge will close tomorrow, in a further blow to the town centre.

The Fore Street shop, which sells handheld and video games, consoles and accessories, will close for the last time after trading on Saturday, Staff are understood to be transferring to other stores, with no redundancies.

Game is owned by the same company which runs Gamestation, which has a branch in the nearby Shires shopping centre, and the Wiltshire Times understands that there has not been enough business to support both stores.

David Baker, president of the Trowbridge Chamber of Commerce, said: “I’m extremely disappointed another business is leaving Trowbridge. We have up to 500 council staff who have left County Hall for Shurnhold over 18 months, and we have extremely high car parking charges.

“With these two things together it’s no wonder retailers come under extreme pressure.”
