Wiltshire Council has announced the £130,000-per-year corporate director it is making redundant will be Mark Boden.

Mr Boden, who headed up neighbourhood and planning, has been issued with compulsory redundancy after fought to save his job.

Three other corporate directors will be kept on. They are Carolyn Godfrey, Sue Redmond and Carlton Brand.

They will take up their new roles with immediate effect.

Council leader Jane Scott has already wielded her axe on chief executive Andrew Kerr who was made redundant last month.

The two redundancies will save £500,000 per year but will come at a price.

Both Mr Boden and Mr Kerr can expect large payouts because both have served over 20 years in local government.

A full council meeting, which takes places on Tuesday at 10.30am at City Hall in Salisbury, is expected to finally agree the process before redundancy packages are handed out.

It has been speculated that Mr Boden could walk away with a minimum £60,000 and Mr Kerr could take home a minimum £100,000 and both will benefit from pensions.

Cllr Scott said: “The senior management restructure is radical and underlines our commitment to protecting vital services and doing what we believe is best for Wiltshire’s communities.

“I am pleased to announce the appointment of the three directors and look forward to working with them to continue to provide the best possible service for our local residents.”
