PROTESTORS and Wiltshire College bosses will meet next week to discuss the future of The Arc theatre in Trowbridge.

People who had objected to the college’s plan to stop professional productions at the College Road theatre are expected to hear the final proposals from the college, after its consultation into the plan came to an end this week.

Bev Flanagan, vice principal, and Stephanie Stephenson, director of customer services, will answer questions at the Trowbridge Area Board on Thursday, November 17 at 7pm at the Bradley Road council offices.

There are concerns that changes to The Arc’s programming schedule could jeopardise bookings with local theatre groups and schools.

A campaign to protect The Arc’s programming of professional and community productions picked up pace on Tuesday when a group of objectors, led by the Arc’s mascot Aardy the Aardvarc, met at County Hall to discuss their concerns with Wiltshire Council.

Tracy Sullivan, chairman of the BA14 Culture Group and development manager for Wiltshire Arts Promoters, said: “The meeting will be a really useful opportunity for the community to be able to hear and speak directly to those able to make a decision about the future of The Arc.”
