Heavy rain could not dampen the spirits of revellers having a rocking good time at the annual Holt Music Festival.

About 400 people attended last Saturday’s event, now in its 17th year, at Holt Playing Field.

They experienced an eclectic mix of musical artists and activities for children.

During the afternoon, Holt Morris and Friends performed. Visitors also enjoyed fairground rides, fete stalls and crockery smashing.

Organiser Christine Tucker said: “The event, the organisation and the performers were fantastic, but, unfortunately, we couldn’t fight the weather.

“It had a real effect on the gate, which was down by half, but we really appreciated the support of everyone who attended.

“The rain really started lashing down at around 7pm, which meant the acts in the evening didn’t get as big an audience as they deserved.

“The Erin Bardwell Collective and All You Need is The Beatles were excellent, nonetheless.”

Holt Music Festival is organised by the Village Hall Committee and proceeds, which are still being tallied, support the hall, which is a venue for activities varying from pre-school classes to a senior citizens’ lunch club.

At this year’s event, the music was arranged by record label owner Rob Dady, of 208 Records, who also performed with his band, the Sitting Tenants.

Mrs Tucker said: “Despite the weather, everybody who came seemed to have a really good time and the music was great.

“I’d like to say a thank-you to Rob for organising the music, those who attended and everyone who helped organise the festival.”
