Wiltshire Police is appealing for information following reports of fraudulent activity in Corsham.

Offenders in the town have been opening bank accounts using the names and details of others and then attempting to steal the bank cards and associated documents from the victim’s post box.

There have been a number of reports of this taking place in Beechfield House where there is a communal post area.

Witnesses have spotted men in the area who were believed to be attempting to steal mail.

There have also been numerous attempts to withdraw money from several of these accounts which is being investigated by the relevant banks and building societies.

These offences took place between April and May this year and again between July 17 and 21.

The police said that a 5ft 4in unshaven black man, believed to be 35-years-old, who drives a blue Vauxhall Vectra, is a potential suspect.

Anyone with information can call Wiltshire Police on 101, extension number 728603, asking to speak to Hazel Brinkworth, based at Melksham Police Station, or alternatively call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
