Pupils, parents and staff at Stonar celebrated a superb set of GCSE results this morning with every pupil achieving at least five passes at A* - C grades, including English, Mathematics and science.
Despite a much-publicised fall nationally in the rate of ‘good’ passes at GCSE this year, Stonar’s A* - C rate increased to 94.7 per cent. In total 40.3 per cent of all GCSE papers taken yielded passes at A* and A grades, significantly above the national average of 22.4 per cent.
Amongst the high-fliers were Phoebe Nickless-Dent from Atworth who gained 11 GCSEs at A*/A grades. Sophie Ogbonda-Jardine from Bath gained 11 passes at A*/A grades.
Sarah Pinfield, from Atworth who earned eight at A*/A grades and performing arts star Rebecca Ibbott from Whitley, achieved nine A*/A grades including an A* in Drama – and joins Italia Conti Academy of Theatre this September.
