Fundraisers enjoyed scenic views surrounding Dorothy House in Winsley during in the hospice’s annual Dusk Walk.

The sponsored trek was a chance to join families and friends together for a 5km circular route to remember lost loved ones.

A group of 177 people took part last Saturday, ranging from children to an 81-year-old, and many people brought their dogs.

Carol York, 56, of Melksham, walked with her daughter and two grandchildren, in memory of her husband, Bill, who benefited from the help of Dorothy House night carers before dying of heart failure in April last year.

She said: “I wanted to give something back, because it was not only what they did for Bill, but the support they gave me and the aftercare I received.”

As dusk fell and people made their way back to the hospice, there was the opportunity to write a message and place a candle in the grounds as a mark of remembrance.

Director of fundraising and communications Katrina Sudbury said: “Every-one was smiling and enjoyed it, because it had meant something to them.”

l Dorothy House will hold a jazz lunch in its grounds on Sunday, May 19, organised by Yvonne Brunton, a fundraiser for the hospice.

She will be the vocalist for the Lawley Wade Sextet, performing jazz classics.

A sausage and mash lunch, from 12.30pm to 3pm, will be hosted by Frome Friends and volunteers. Book by calling 01225 721480 or emailing Yvonne.brunton@dorothyhouse-hospice.org.uk
