WILTSHIRE Heights Care Home in Bradford on Avon was due to get a visit today by Wiltshire Council officers, after it was recently placed under special measures by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

The council’s contracts officer, Debbie Griffin, was intending to visit the care home in Cottle Avenue, conduct a review of the site and assess the care home’s action plan to rectify the concerns raised by the CQC.

The council’s Quality Assurance Team have been given the CQC report, published on October 15, and warning notice and the council will offer home assistance.

The care home has until November 14 to comply with the HSCA Regulations 2014 Safe Care and treatment guidelines.

Failure to do so may result in further action being from the CQC.

The report outlined how the Porthaven care home was ‘poor’ in regards to record keeping, communication and staff practice towards residents ‘was not safe’.

In the CQC’s checklist, Wiltshire Heights’ quality of care was deemed as ‘inadequate’ for four out of the five categories. This encompassed service safety, effectiveness, competency, leadership and responsiveness.

Wiltshire Heights, formerly opened in July 2014, is part of the Porthaven Care Homes Ltd and currently hosts 34 residents, but has a capacity for up to 63 people.

Wilshire Heights, which was placed on an Amber status alert, is registered by the CQC to provide, Nursing, Dementia and Residential care.
