MORE road closures are set to hit Bradford on Avon over the next few months as urgent work is needed to replace water mains along Belcombe Road.
As part of Wessex Water’s ongoing improvements to the water network in the area, they need to replace an ageing water main that is prone to bursting with a new plastic pipe, to improve reliability and reduce supply disruption.
As a result, the road will be closed from October 31 to November 25, from Monday to Friday, to through traffic between the Avoncliff railway station access road up until the electrical sub station, 500m down the road on the way to Turleigh.
Belcombe Road will then be shut again between the junction with Wine Street to 22 Belcombe Road, 70m beyond the turn off at Belcombe Place, from November 28 to January 13.
However the road closure will be removed between December 22 and January 2 to help minimise the disruption.
The alternative route is to go to Turleigh and take the Bradford Road to the B3108 Winsley, to the A363, to Bath Road, Masons Lane and Newtown.
Emergency access will be maintained at all times, together with refuse collection access.
