BUSINESSES around Bradford on Avon saw the fruits of their labour pay off over the weekend at the end of their busy half-term pumpkin trail.

Fifteen businesses in the town carved and displayed their carefully crafted pumpkins to create a trail for children. The trail which was started three years ago, has fast become a tradition in the town, drew 123 entries this year.

Ruth Warren, vice chairman of Bradford on Avon Business, said: “The trail ran all through the half-term, from October 21 to 30. It was probably the busiest one we have done, it was just a fun chance for the children to wander around the town and find all of these wonderful independent businesses. It has become a popular tradition in the town and I am sure it will keep on going.”

The trail tasked the local kids with finding all of the pumpkins’ names then submitting their forms at the end.

James Sullivan-Tailyour, owner of The Swan and one of the organisers of the trail, said: “It was amazing, there were 123 entries which means a good 300 people taking part. I am glad that it increased in size this year, I think it was probably because we had the money to make posters and place some banners in the town.” We have had a lot of very good feedback from everyone, all of the families enjoyed themselves, it was really heartening to hear that it went down so well with everyone.”
