BUSINESS owners and councillors in Bradford on Avon took to Lambs Yard to join together in a Christmas jumper flash mob to raise money for charity.

The Save the Children initiative tasked people to don their festive jumpers and help raise money for the charity. Organised by James Sullivan-Tailyour and the members of Bradford on Avon Business, the flash mob decided to meet up at 2pm in Lambs Yard on Friday (December 16).

Mr Sullivan-Tailyour, owner of The Swan in Church Street, said: “It was rather short notice, I saw the appeal that Save the Children had started and got hold of the other members of BoA Business. We had about 16 people come down and take part, but we will be building on it next year to make it bigger and better. I know some of the schools were doing it independently, so next year we will organise one with everyone getting involved.

“It was so good to see so many people around the town wearing their Christmas jumpers, everyone looked wonderful. I had a couple of people come into the Swan and comment on the fact everyone was wearing jumpers.”

Throughout December BoA Business, the group of independent business owners in the town, have been putting on festive events for the visitors and residents of Bradford, aiming to spread Christmas cheer and encourage people to visit the shops.

“Bradford is quite different, the town is full of independent businesses. It isn’t a town that is full of chain shops so we like to do as much as we can for the public. We have been doing the elf trail, the pumpkin trail in October and now an advent calendar trail,” added Mr Sullivan-Tailyour.

Every day of the month, businesses in the town have been opening their mystery boxes and displaying them to the public.

“We opened our box on December 3 which was a doll house that you can see into every room of. The boxes will carry on being opened until Christmas Eve,” Mr Sullivan-Tailyour said.
