THERE will be no joint schools bonfire and fireworks event in Bradford on Avon this weekend.

The organisers of the annual event, the St Laurence School Association, say the Beehive field they normally use is not available.

SLSA chair Robert Beesley said: “We are not having a joint schools fireworks event this year in Bradford on Avon. This is because the field was not available for use. We are having a fallow year in the same way that Glastonbury has one.”

Instead, the SLSA, the school’s parents association, are running a Christmas Draw in its place to raise funds for the school. The first prize is an XBox One S, and the second prize a one-year Odeon Limitless membership.

The SLSA prize draws takes place on December 18, tickets are £1 and can be purchased by emailing slsa@st-laurence.com or at the school Christmas Concert on December 14 in the Wiltshire Music Centre.

In addition, Fitz Friends at Fitzmaurice Primary School have a Christmas event on Friday, December 1 from 5pm to 7pm, and the Friends of Christchurch School are holding a Christmas Fayre in Saturday, December 2 from 10am to 1pm.
