BRADFORD on Avon's historic Tithe barn echoed with Christmas carols as dusk fell on Sunday evening in a lead up to the festive celebrations in the town.

Sing around the Christmas Tree is a free community event held at Barton Farmyard by the Tithe Barn, organised by the Bradford on Avon Preservation Trust.

Trust chairman John Potter said: “We were pleased so many people turned up on what was earlier a really wet day.

"Many turned up with lanterns or torches and it was a really festive time.”

The enthusiastic Courage Youth Choir led the audience in songs and carols under direction of Felicity Courage.

The Tithe Barn is an English Heritage building managed by the Bradford on Avon Preservation Trust.

Kate Larard, trustee for the barn, said the spectacular 14th century stone barn with its amazing timber cruck roof is an ideal location for a community event.

She added: "It was rewarding to see so many family and friends come to enjoy and celebrate the lead up to Christmas”.

Christmas Trees are put up in the town at the railway station and Westbury Gardens. When one was added at the Tithe Barn last year the idea developed to hold the festive event.
