Fundraisers launch with collection day

Money raised in the first initiative by the new Marie Curie Warminster and District Fundraising Group is enough to pay for a nurse to care for a cancer patient for two nights.
The group had its official launch last Saturday after its first activity, a Christmas collection.
It has been set up to support Marie Curie Cancer Care and held its first business meeting to plan future activities.
Marie Curie gives free care, at home, to people with terminal illnesses.
Lucy Stockall, a community fundraiser for the nursing charity, said: “The new Fundraising Group in Warminster will make a huge difference locally, by helping to raise the vital funds needed to support Marie Curie Nurses.
“The Christmas collection was a great first event and raised £339.59, which will enable a nurse to provide two nights to a patient in the local area.”
The group will support major fundraising campaigns, such as the Great Daffodil Appeal and Blooming Great Tea Party, as well as promoting fundraising in the local community and encouraging new supporters. To help, call Paula Mouch-arafieh on 01985 840994.
