POLICE still need help tracing the owner of a dog which attacked a sheep so severely it had to be put down.

Witnesses say they saw a man at a field in Corsham Court, who appeared to be in his thirties with brown hair wearing a royal blue waterproof coat and walking a brown Staffordshire bull terrier-type dog which was off the lead.

He was also walking with a woman in her late twenties with long brown hair. They had two other dogs which were also off the lead, one was a golden Labrador and the other was a black and white dog which could have been a sheep dog.

The sheep suffered severe injuries to its face in the attack by the bull terrier.

PCSO Hazel Anderson said: “We have received numerous pieces of anonymous information. Members of the public have been appalled by this act.

“We are still keen to speak to the owners of the dog. We would encourage anybody with any information to please get in contact with Corsham NPT based at the Springfield Community Campus or send information anonymously through Crimestoppers as this is an appalling incident.”
