THE back garden of a Seend home could become a tourist attraction with three shepherd’s huts.
Holiday homeowner David Hawkins of Wych Elm, Seend Hill, has applied to Wiltshire Council for permission to build the self-catering accommodation on about half an acre of land to be known as Woody Copse.
Mr Hawkins, who already runs nearby Lock Cottage as a holiday let, said: “Self-catering offers a cost effective holiday for those who don’t want full hotel facilities, but this does not suggest a lower standard of hospitality.
“Shepherd huts at Woody Copse will have a high level of finish, providing a spacious site enabling those staying to enjoy as much freedom as possible.”
He said the huts would be made of a combination of traditional and high tech materials to make them blend in with the countryside.
Mr Hawkins said: “The fittings are sourced to be both rural and functional.
“The structure of each hut will be externally clad in timber, but using the best high tech insulation to ensure comfortable living in winter.”
