Volunteers who run the Seend Shuttle are celebrating the handover of a new bus.

Committee chairman Peter Wallis was handed the keys to the 16-seater Mercedes Sprinter bus worth £47,000 at Rygor, Westbury.

Mr Wallis, who has been chairman for 20 years, said: “It’s a lovely bus with a lot more gadgets and things than the old ones.

"It has only just gone into service so we have not had much feedback from passengers but the drivers love it.”

The bus is used for a school run to Seend Primary each weekday, shopping trips to Devizes and Melksham and is available for private hire and for use by village groups.

The committee receives a grant of £5,000 a year from Wiltshire Council and can also claim money back from the council when people use bus passes.
