THE largest model railway exhibition in Wiltshire is returning to Melksham next month.

Hundreds gather every year to admire the model railway layouts and more than 60 stands at the Christie Miller Sports Centre.

One of this year’s highlights will be the extensive Gresley Beat layout from Kent. This is one of the largest portable model railway layouts in the country and travels in two large vans and takes a team of nine people at least ten hours to set up.

This is the ninth year it has been held at the sports centre and may also be the last as it is due to close as part of the new campus plans, so the exhibition organisers are looking for a new venue.

The show will take place on April 11 and 12, admission costs £8 for adults and £5 for children. Advance tickets will be £2 cheaper and can be bought from Christie Miller and Gas Cupboard Models in Trowbridge.

Sunday tickets will cost £5 after 1pm on the Sunday and each adult will be able to bring a child free of charge.

There will also be a free bus running on Saturday from Chippenham railway station and will call at Melksham station.
