Alan Orzechowski - Mike Towse - Rich Clarke - Kev Partridge
Four friends set themselves a daunting task to raise money for charity when they planned to play 72 holes of golf in one day at Whitley Golf Club, near Melksham.
After Chris Clarke lost his brave, five year battle with cancer in February this year his brother Rich persuaded three friends to join him on his marathon day to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support in Chris’s memory.
Rich felt that it would be appropriate for the fundraising to have a sporting slant as Chris was well known around the local football scene, mainly as a referee on Chippenham Sunday, Trowbridge & District, Wiltshire, Hellenic & Western Leagues – but he was also one time secretary of the Chippenham Sunday League.
Whitley Golf Club kindly donated the use of the course free of charge for the whole 72 holes, and the four players started their day on June 23rd at 6.00am. Rich Clarke was joined by Kev Partridge, Mike Towse and Alan Orzechowski and the quartet finally finished their mammoth mission at 7.30pm.
They are currently finalising the collection for the charity but it looks as though they have raised in excess of £1,100.
