THE winner of the Wiltshire Times token collection competition has been announced and will pocket a cool £250.

Jon Newsam, 52, of Shaw Hill, Melksham had to collect three tokens, cut them out and send them in to the paper to win after which he was selected at random.

Mr Newsam, posing with his dog Twopence, has been telling the Times what he is planning to do with his winnings.

He said: “I am going to use the money for DIY, as I am working on my home at the moment.

“I get the Wiltshire Times every week and often enter the competitions, I won a bottle of whisky years ago. I thought it might be my time to win again.

“My parents have bought the paper since the early 1950s when they moved here from Yorkshire and I have continued to buy it.

“I really like reading the paper because it is full of proper local news and the Wiltshire Times holds the Wiltshire Council to account over local issues.”
