POLICE are urging people to take extra care when dealing with door-to-door salesman after an elderly Melksham couple had £400 stolen from them on Sunday.
The day before, between 9am-7pm, two men went to a house in Barnwell Road, to do guttering work for £10.
The pair later said more work would be needed on the roof, for a fee of £50. The next day, a third man turned up at the house, saying he was from the same company and that they had forgotten to give a receipt.
The two other men went into the house while the third man went upstairs and made off with about £400.
If you have any information of this, call police on 101.
