A BRANCHED out and spruced up edition of the Melksham Gardeners’ Society show took place on Sunday, attracting nearly 200 green-fingered enthusiasts.

Gardeners across the town showed off their horticultural skills for the flower and produce show, which was resurrected in 2008, at the Assembly hall from 9am-4pm.

A total of 360 exhibits were on display, including fruit, vegetables, flowers, photography competitions, a children's contest, an arts and crafts contest and a cookery challenge among others.

Society chairman Barbara Cropp said: "It went very well. I was most impressed by many of the entries. It was definitely one of the most successful shows we have had for a while.

"This is a really good asset to the town's event calendar. It is good to see a wide mix of ages come too."

The first two hours involved staging exhibits, followed by a two-hour judging session.

The doors then opened to the public from 2-4pm before the presentations for the show and the Melksham in Bloom winners.
