MORE than £1,250 was raised by a 13-year-old golfing prodigy from Atworth who successfully completed a 24-hour charity match last Friday.

Hot-shot Jamie Davis, of Atworth Court, conquered the marathon challenge at Whitley Golf Club, playing right through the night, to raise money for Wiltshire Air Ambulance and Carer Support Wiltshire.

Jamie, who plays off a handicap of 12 and is the junior team captain, soldiered through the task, battling off the aches and pains to play 135 holes of golf in the allotted time.

"I absolutely loved it. Even though I was tired and ached all over, I managed to get through it all," he said.

"I remember thinking at about 5am on the Saturday that I would not make it, I really felt like a Zombie.

"I had a big paella on the Friday night that my family cooked, in the morning I had a bacon sandwich and near the end I had a McDonald's - - I would happily do it again next year."

To help James round, the golf balls were glow in the dark and the course was lit up by glowsticks, which were provided by Melksham's hair dressing salon Glow.

"Over the 24 hours I was pretty consistent. My best score was 65 and my lowest was 71 so I am pretty happy with that," he added.
