Trowbridge Town Crier Trevor Heeks brought birthday cheer to Larkrise Farm this week when he presented the charity with a set of benches.

Mr Heeks, who celebrated his 70th birthday with a drinks raffle at Castle Place recently, invested the money raised to commission new outdoor furniture for the farm which caters for youngsters with severe special needs.

Mr Heeks, who also provided a fan for the school’s sensory room, said: “Larkrise Farm really struggled when we had all that bad weather recently. They had most of their farmland flooded and the wet conditions made their daily tasks difficult.

“So with my milestone birthday I wanted to make a difference for them and organised some fund raising to buy them something they can treasure.”

The bench and matching picnic table was made by local company Timbertack of Melksham and delivered to the farm on Tuesday.

Farm manager Wendy Self praised the kind gesture and said: “Trevor does so much for the people of town and either wearing his crier’s hat or his Lions logos he looks after us at the farm.

“It was really kind of him and has brightened us all up after our difficult time”
