A Trowbridge charity shop is inviting shoppers to place their bids in the Blue Cross pet charity’s silent auction, with the star lot a portrait of a puppy rescued by the charity.

Little Lotte had a rough start in life after her owner threatened to drown her if they couldn’t get rid of her.

Luckily, she was rescued by a passer-by and taken to the Blue Cross rehoming centre in Burford.

Lotte has since gone on to a happy new home, as well as being immortalised by Trowbridge artist Val Coyne on canvas.

Other items going under the hammer include ceramics, pottery and furniture.

Carol Kempster, manager at the Blue Cross shop in Trowbridge, said: “We have some fantastic items so it’s really worth popping along to take and a look and make a bid.

“All the money we raise will help the thousands of sick and homeless pets cared for every year at Blue Cross hospitals and rehoming centres.”

All the auction items are on display in the shop’s window with a lot number and guide price.

Buyers can place their bids until today in the shop on Fore Street.
