A man who is accused of carrying out a serious assault in Trowbridge town centre is to be charged with attempted murder.
Dawid Majewski, 26, who is currently accused of causing grievous bodily harm with intent, was told of the development when he appeared at Swindon Crown Court today.
Majewski, of Ashmead, Trowbridge, is said to have assaulted Kamil Zlobecki in the early hours of Sunday, July 6.
No charge has formally been put to Majewski, who needs a Polish interpreter, and he has not entered any pleas.
Judge Tim Mousley QC adjourned the case to Friday, October 17, and remanded him in custody until then.
It is said an incident took place between 4am and 5am in both Ushers Court and Conigre Square in Trowbridge on July 6.
A 23-year-old man was taken to hospital with serious injuries following the alleged attack but has since been released.
