Trowbridge Civic Centre hosted delegates from Wiltshire Royal British Legion branches for the annual county conference on Saturday.

It was held at the civic centre for the third consecutive year and included representatives from all county branches, with the group’s county president Sir Jack Deverell.

Trowbridge’s RBL vice-chairman and county ceremonial officer Brian Mitchell was also there and received the county appreciation certificate at the event for his services to the legion.

Mr Mitchell, who spent 37 years in the Territorial Army and joined the RBL in 1960, said: “It was a fantastic event and the civic centre once again provided the perfect venue.

“This gathering of all the branches in the county, from even the smallest villages, is always really good and we discovered that the Royal British Legion is in good health.

“I was bowled over to get the highest award you can get for the county.

“It made me very proud, although the reason I do it is because it is something that I enjoy.”
