TROWBRIDGE group 1st Studley St John’s Guides is celebrating a double achievement, after two of its most dedicated members were awarded the prestigious Baden Powell Award this month.
Guides Olivia Lambdin and Holly-Anne Ritson-Thomas were presented with their award at St John’s Church Hall in Trowbridge on March 10, after facing a series of challenges over 18 months.
The Baden Powell challenge, which is the highest award a guide can achieve, is divided into five zones, including healthy lifestyles, global awareness, discovery, skills and relationships and celebrating diversity.
As part of the award, both Olivia and Holly-Anne had to undertake initiatives as part of each of the five zones, while they also built a shelter and improved on a skill that they already had.
Marion Davies, a group assistant for 1st Studley Guides, said: “It’s the highest honour a guide can get and we are very proud of both of them as they worked really hard to meet the award criteria.
“You have to be dedicated guiding and it has to mean something to you to get this award. We have had quite a few guides receive the award over the years, but it is certainly not easy to get.”
