SHOPPERS at ASDA in The Shires Shopping Centre in Trowbridge had an opportunity to pose with sci-fi characters such as Darth Vader and a Dalek at a charity event earlier this month.

The event, which took place on June 13, saw a variety of sci-fi characters visit the store to raise money for the supermarket’s breast cancer charity Tickled Pink.

Characters from popular sci-fi shows and films such as Despicable Me and Star Wars walked around the store with charity buckets, with shoppers able to donate money to have a ‘selfie’ with them.

Tickled Pink has been raising money for Breast Cancer Campaign and Breast Cancer Care for the last seventeen years and has raised £40 million so far.

Nicky Phillips, community life champion at Trowbridge ASDA, said: “It was a really fun day and we raised almost £125 through donations, which means we have raised just under £1,500 in store this year already.

“The shoppers enjoyed seeing the different characters throughout the store and it was a great way to raise money for a fantastic cause that does so much for breast cancer.”

The Trowbridge ASDA branch will be holding another free event in store on July 24 to celebrate the 50th birthday of the national supermarket chain, with shoppers invited to decorate their own cupcakes.
