TROWBRIDGE engineering technician Joe Trevorrow is celebrating after completing his Phase 2 training with Victory Squadron and graduating as a Weapon Engineer from HMS Collingwood.

The 21-year-old, who is a former pupil at Clarendon Academy, joined the Royal Navy in January to travel the world, try new things such as new sports and have a sense of achievement.

At HMS Collingwood, Mr Trevorrow undertook the Weapons Engineering Training Course, where he learnt about the Royal Navy’s weapon systems, safety procedures, electrical and electronic repair techniques and the basics of hydraulics and pneumatics.

On board he will work alongside Marine, Warfare and Logistics specialists and lead and manage experts in communications, IT, explosives and electronic sensor systems. Prioritising and guiding their work to achieve the ship’s mission and ensure its fighting capability.

Mr Trevorrow, whose parents still live in Trowbridge, said: “I’ve done more and achieved more in these seven months than I have in my entire life. I’m now looking forward to learning more about weapons engineering and working on different classes of ships.”

HMS Collingwood is the home of the Maritime Warfare School, which contributes to the operational capability of the Fleet by providing first class training to all officers.
